College 101

Easton, MD  2:00-6:00pm  $10.00/girl

October 20, 2007

 

Are you in the "just considering my options" phase or do you have your top schools picked out already?  Either way, this fun afternoon will be full of tips for considering which college is right for you, getting organized for the search, hints on completing college applications, researching financial aid and much more!  You will complete the COLLEGE 101 FOCUS BOOK (included in fee); charm must be purchased separately.

 

 

Regional College Night

Over 160 colleges from all over the country will have exhibits, displays and information!  Note:  this is not an official Girl Scout event, but is of interest to teen girls considering higher education.  Great follow up to the College 101 event!

 

 

SU 36 Cookie Kickoff:  Make It a Hit!

First United Methodist Church, Chestertown

Friday, January 4, 2008   6:45-8:00 pm

 

Lights ~ Camera ~ Action!  Kick off Girl Scout Cookie Sales with a glitz and glamour filled evening.  Teen Troop 949 is planning a gala RED CARPET event complete with games and activities for girls based on this year's cookie theme : Make It a Hit!   Even the papparazzi will be swarming around to catch a glimpse of this year's newest introductions - Lemon Chalet Cremes and Sugar Free Chocolate Chip!  The gorgeous new makeover of All Abouts will be revealed too!  We hear there will be a COOKIE EATING CONTEST featuring county celebs as part of the fun.   Don't miss it!

SU 36 Me & My Guy Square Dance

Church Hill Elementary School

February 2, 2008   Doors open 6:30 pm, dancing 7-9pm

 

Girls: invite dad, uncle, grandfather to a night of fun!

Kick up your heels at one of our Service Unit's most popular events!  Learn to square dance, stroll through Juliette Low Town, visit the General Store, grab a snack at Sassaprilla Sal's, have your picture taken down at the Corral, and play the Cakewheel.  Dress for the West!

Join Girl Scouts from Kent and upper Queen Anne's counties for this colossal event!

Create a wheeled balancing wonder using your creativity and engineering smarts, then race it down a rope!

SU 36 Spring Encampment

Camp Todd, Denton, MD

April 5-6, 2008

 

Sure you love to go camping, but do you know what goes into making a camp weekend successful?  This is a service unit Troop Camp Training encampment, so you will be learning side by side with leaders and girls of all age levels.  Even if you are an experienced camper you will be able to polish up your camp skills, learn the many ways to build a fire, cook meals outdoors, box a tent (no, that doesn't mean putting it back into a box!), how to lead nature activities and camp crafts, and tons of other cool stuff.  A fun weekend for you, plus you will receive real camp training and a patch to prove it!

Teen girls are invited to join the Spring Encampment Committee and help with event planning.  Teens and their advisors may arrive Friday evening, April 4 for pre-encampment preparations (must notify the Encampment Committee in advance!)  Option for them to help Council Outdoor Program staff prepare a soup and sandwich lunch Saturday for Camp Cleanup volunteers!

Easter Seals Camp Fairlee Manor, Chestertown

Sunday, June 22, 2008   7:00-8:30 pm

 

Camp Fairlee Manor is an Easter Seals camp for children and adults with disabilities.  This is a Service Unit SERVICE PROJECT to thank them for allowing us to use their facilities for events.   We will join the Easter Seals counselors and youth campers for an evening campfire and singalong.  They will teach us their favorite camp songs, and we will teach them our favorite Girl Scout songs!  Join the fun!

 

Bring a sit upon, a jacket or sweatshirt, and pull long hair back into a pony tail or bun for safety around the fire.

Directions from Chestertown:  Rt 20 toward Rock Hall; veer to the right at sign to Fairlee.  Take the second road on the right (Parsons Lane.)  At the stop sign turn right onto Rt 298.  Take an immediate left onto Bay Shore Road and continue about 2 miles.  The camp entrance is on the right.  Park in the designated parking lot.  From Rock Hall follow directions from Rt 298.  From Worton follow directions from Rt 298, turning right onto Bay Shore Rd.
